Finland: 5G revolution

Image
Mobile phone users in Tampere, Finland and Tallinn, Estonia's capital, were the first to connect to a fifth-generation mobile network. The first 5G network in Europe was created in 2018. Until now, 181 5G pilot networks have been reported in 23 European countries. 5G network was the basic theme of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona where 5G smartphones, 5G cars and 5G firefighting drones were some of the most exciting tech innovations. The new technology can be 100 times faster than the 4G. A problem that concerns the mobile phone industry itself is the way the benefits of 5G should be explained to consumers so that they will be willing to accept higher costs. Switching to 5G networks in Europe entails a cost of half a trillion euros. In Finland, a pioneer in the field of mobile networks, a 5G data plan costs 50 euros per month. 5G is the technology of the future and a major revolution in communication networks that will change the lives of its users. Finland: A house for every homeless man : The plan that Finland used in order to end its homelessness problem

Image
Finland found a special way to solve its homelessness problem, since the government decided to give the homeless permanent housing that can they live in by paying a low cost rent which they can easily afford. The homeless can also make use of counselling services provided to them in their home. As homeless people need less emergency health care and use less the criminal justice system the government saves a great amount of money every year. This scheme worked so well that the number of homeless people in Finland has dropped from 18.000 in 1987 to 7.112 in 2017. Only 415 of them sleep on the streets.   Source: https://www.itspossible.gr/ένα-σπίτι-για-κάθε-άστεγο-το-ιδιαίτερο

Finland: stricter legislation against rape is put in force

The Finnish Ministry of Justice announced that the Finnish government is processing the making of a new law, which will acknowledge every non consensual sexual act as rape. Despite the country's law-abiding character, its rape approach is reprehensible by its own law and justice system. Based on the existent legislation,  a sexual act is acknowledged as rape only if it is accompanied by violence, fear or the victims’ inability to defend themselves. During a campaign by the International Amnesty, the Justice Minister expressed his decision to modify the rape legislation. The new, modernised legislation will include the factor of consent. The old law provoked outrage in the country after it imposed an only 2-year sentence on a rapist of a minor. Only a few european countries define each non consensual sexual act as rape, with Swe...
