Finland: A house for every homeless man : The plan that Finland used in order to end its homelessness problem

Finland found a special way to solve its homelessness problem, since the government decided to
give the homeless permanent housing that can they live in by paying a low cost rent which they can
easily afford. The homeless can also make use of counselling services provided to them in their
home. As homeless people need less emergency health care and use less the criminal justice
system the government saves a great amount of money every year.

This scheme worked so well that the number of homeless people in Finland has dropped from
18.000 in 1987 to 7.112 in 2017. Only 415 of them sleep on the streets.
